Beyond Layers – Day 4 – Vision & Blur – One Word

One word to describe yourself….hmmm another hard challenge.  This took several days to think about and finally this came to my mind and stayed there.  “Content” Reflecting on this word must mean that I am indeed a lucky woman to be like that at the stage of my life.

The Left Image:
I picked these tiny flowers out of the garden and knew I had this little antique medicine bottle lying about.  Set up in the front octagon with morning light.  Draped a thin white sheet in front of the windows to block out all the green foliage and palm trees.  Used the tiny round lamp table with the muted tablecloth on it.  As this photograph was taken in vertical format and wanted a square format, I had to increase the the canvas size.  this was filled with the same tone as the cloth to marry it all in.  As my image was light enough there was not a lot of editing to do.  A little desaturation and reduction in vibrancy produced this image.  Applied KK’s Plastersquare texture supplied to us.  Burnt the edges slightly then applied the text with slight reduction in opacity.

The Right Image:
After much deliberation I was not totally happy with the first outcome. Don’t get me wrong, I love the pale version, but for the exercise I thought the supplied texture just did not show up enough. All the burning I did, just did not bring it up. So today I decided to bring back a copy of the pale version, re-apply the texture and use the Multiply Mode. Just painted back a tad of detail here & there. You be the judge.

Shot with Canon 5D MKII, Canon 35mm F1.4L USM lens.  Natural light.  AV mode, F/2.8 @ 1/50s iso 200.
